THE CALLING

Upon the waking of each new day
The calling beckons me
I cannot satisy the yearning
Nor bid it go away
It appeals from amidst the Heavens
And from the depths of the sea
What is this desperate yearning
That has such need of me
Or I of it....

A PLACE INSIDE

I have a place inside, where I run and hide,
A place that's only mine to know.
There's a wall that I have built
Constructed from the pains and the disappointments
that have come my way.
It  protects me from a final blow
That could steal my life away.
So please don't try to find my fortress
The walls are high, but flimsy.
I don't want you to see my weakness,
See me tottering on the ledge of my own mortality.

FANTASY

In my bed, I close my eyes,
Your  face dances across my mind.
It dips and spins among pieces of broken dreams
And teardrops.
I reach out to touch your cheek,
Once again you disappear.
Another illusion to add to my diary of fantasy.

In my dreams, we dance,
To the lullabye sounds of an Irish love song
Holding each other tightly in this place of our imagining
For we know it is our secret place of hopes
That will never be materialized.

In the morning, I awaken,
To another day of cruel reality.
A life to face and conquer on my own.
Without you.
Until the night returns and we reunite in my bed, in my dreams.

THOUGHTS OF YOU

Early in the morning
Just as the sun begins to rise
I open my eyes and think of you.

Late in the evening
When the moon is high
I think of you and the gentle
Friendship that we share
And I drift off to sleep
With the sweet promise of your love.
